Little Black Devil Burlesque Ball

Here’s what I’ve been working on this week. The first time I heard anything about the Little Black Devil Burlesque ladies was back in August, they were part of the “Hot August Nights” event, and apparently a good time was had by all.
Had a good time researching this. Obviously burlesque is having a huge resurgence right now, and there a are tons of predictable, contemporary posters out there. But the vintage ones have a lot of character. Really busy layouts and random text.
I wanted to make something straight out of the 50’s, only using two colors. I do like this main font, it’s called “HPLS-Headline One”, and it does really look like old, worn lead type. All of the smaller text is Champion.
