The Lava turns 17 years old!

Wow. I’ve been drinking at the Lava since the first day it was open, and still have fond memories of the opening night and the early years. And yes, I’m amazed (and a bit mortified) that it’s been 17 years!
I encourage everybody to swing by on Wednesday, I think this is going to be a blast. The tiki mugs are beautiful, and I do intend to get there early enough to snag one.
I knew that more people would see this design online than the printed poster, so I wanted to go with a very basic image. I was totally inspired by old tiki restaurant matchbook covers, that’s where the color palette came from. That illustration is from an old cook book. The headline font is called “Shaka Zulu”. That is so cool.
