July 2011 Art Attack Poster

At vero eos et accusamus et

This was the July 2011 Art Attack poster. Something fireworks based seemed like a good idea. I’ve always admired fireworks packaging. and Black Cat is probably the most iconic fireworks brand there is, and an obvious inspiration for an Independence Day poster theme. (The design also pays homage to a poster that Larry Reid and Susan Purves created for the legendary Big Black performance at the Georgetown steam plant in 1987.)

I tried my best to match the fonts and color of the original packaging. But I used different explosion line art, something with a lot more detail. I incorporated my own text obviously.
